BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say a suspect has been arrested in the rape and shooting of a 20-year-old woman.

Police spokesman T. J. Smith said Wednesday at a news conference that 20-year-old Michael Jordan Brown has been arrested and that tips from the community helped.

Police said previously that the woman was forced into an alley by a masked man, raped and then shot in the head. Smith said Wednesday that the woman is in fair condition.

Police said the woman told investigators that a man walked past her on North Carey Street on Saturday night, then doubled back and forced her into an alley.

Brown has been charged with rape and attempted murder. Online court records do not list a lawyer for him.
