NEW YORK (AP) - A school bus company has removed one of its drivers from a route after a 5-year-old Bronx boy was found wandering alone after being dropped off earlier than usual with no one there to receive him.

WNBC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1RIFPBX ) that Pioneer pulled the driver from the route on Tuesday after Mariana and Edgar Sanchez said a man called her on Monday saying he found their son Rafael. He then brought him home.

The principal at PS 392 told Edgar Sanchez that the boy shouldn’t have been dropped off if no one was there to receive him.

A company spokesperson says the driver, who has been with the company since 1986, said attendants were present at the stop.

Mariana Sanchez says she is relieved by the move.
