COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Columbus police have charged two suspects in connection with the slaying of three people, including a teenager and a child, who were killed after an apparent break-in their home earlier this month.

Columbus Police Chief Ricky Boren is expected to announce the arrests during a news conference Wednesday morning.

According to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (https://bit.ly/1W68v8t ), jail records say that a 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday on charges of murder and auto theft. The Associated Press generally does not identify juveniles charged with crimes. The identity of the second suspect hasn’t been released.

Authorities say 56-year-old Gloria Short, her 17-year-old son Caleb Short and her 10-year-old granddaughter Gianna Lindsey were beaten to death in their home. Gloria Short’s husband says he discovered their bodies on Jan. 4 after returning from work.
