MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) - Police are investigating after a man’s body was pulled from an embankment near a stream in Middletown.

Capt. Gary Wallace says a local business employee discovered the body in the area of South Main Street near Highland Avenue around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say at least a half-dozen plainclothes officers responded in addition to patrol officers and firefighters.

Wallace says Middletown detectives and South District firefighters retrieved the body. The man’s remains were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington for further examination.

The identity of the man has yet to be determined. Police say he is white.
