GALETON, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania police sergeant has been jailed on charges he raped a woman after an argument in a residence.

The Bradford Era (https://bit.ly/1mYriXM ) reports 31-year-old Kane Shope, of Galeton, was jailed Friday on charges including rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

State police say Shope, a sergeant with the Gaines Township police in Tioga County, raped the woman late Thursday or early Friday after they argued. Shope allegedly raped the woman on a bathroom floor then made her lay in bed where he allegedly assaulted her again before leaving.

The incident occurred at a home in Galeton.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Shope, who faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 5. He remained in the Potter County jail unable to post bond Wednesday.
