KINCAID, Ill. (AP) - Congressman Rodney Davis is urging central Illinois residents impacted by recent flooding to seek help at a local emergency response center set up for that purpose.

Gov. Bruce Rauner declared disaster areas last week in 23 counties and the Republican congressman from Taylorville represents five of them. Those are Calhoun, Christian, Jersey, Madison and Sangamon.

The Multi-Agency Resource Center in Kincaid will be open Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 905. The American Red Cross and other local aid agencies will be available to help residents.

Meanwhile, the Illinois Department of Emergency Management has asked counties impacted by flooding to provide it with initial damage assessments by Jan. 18 to see if they qualify for federal aid.
