PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo will be among the 2,500 participants attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Raimondo’s office said Wednesday that her trip to the Jan. 20-23 conference is part of her work to help attract new businesses to Rhode Island.

The $7,000 bill for Raimondo and an aide to travel to Switzerland will be paid for by the University of Rhode Island Foundation.

Notables expected to attend include U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry, Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, David Cameron of Britain and Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan.

Business leaders will include General Motors CEO Mary Barra, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, and Alibaba chairman Jack Ma, and the heads of the International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank and World Bank.
