CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island woman is going to jail for a fatal hit-and-run crash in 2013.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1PWf62Y ) Felicia Marino was sentenced Tuesday in Central Islip to nine months behind bars and five years’ probation.

Marino pleaded guilty in July to leaving the scene without calling for help after her car hit and fatally injured Cheri Larrydale. She hit the 46-year-old pedestrian shortly after midnight in October 2013 on the Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook.

Marino said she didn’t realize she’d hit anyone. Prosecutors said police were told a neighbor overheard Marino say she was a “murderer” and that she was “going to go to jail.”

The 41-year-old Holbrook woman gave a tearful apology to the Larrydale family and says she has not been the same person since the incident.
