TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) - Fire officials say it took several hours for firefighters to control a blaze that broke out in the early morning hours at a multi-family home in Taunton.

The fire started at the Pine Street building around 1:00 a.m. Thursday. Officials say six of the home’s units were occupied at the time. All residents were able to make it out of the burning structure safely.

Fire officials believe the fire started in the kitchen of a second floor apartment. Flames spread to the third floor, but multiple hotspots were controlled inside the home around 4:00 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
