HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police in Hartford are searching for a man who allegedly used a gun to threaten his sister’s life before leading officers on a high-speed chase.

The Hartford Courant reports (https://cour.at/1n1mi4B ) that officers were dispatched to a home on Stonington Street around 11 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a domestic dispute involving a firearm.

Police say they arrived to find a black car fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the vehicle onto Interstate 91 South but ultimately disengaged.

A passing motorist notified police that they saw the suspect toss something from out of the car. Police say a blanket, safe and rifle were recovered near Exit 27.

Police say the suspect was driving a vehicle with Connecticut license plate number AB43940.
