DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say both men who were shot by a suburban Atlanta homeowner during a home invasion have now died.

DeKalb County police spokesman Maj. Stephen Fore said in a statement that 44-year-old Anthony Hubbard of Conyers was shot in the chest Wednesday and died Thursday at a hospital.

Police say Hubbard and another man tried to rob a home in Decatur when 38-year-old Timoteo Hernandez grabbed a rifle and shot both suspects. The unidentified suspect died at the scene, while authorities say Hubbard was wounded and fled in a car driven by a woman before both were captured nearby.

During the home invasion, Hernandez’s 51-year-old mother Ramona Derossette suffered a heart attack. Her condition was not immediately released Thursday.

Authorities say it’s unlikely Hernandez will face criminal charges.
