NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Police Department is getting a $15,000 grant to install private security cameras in neighborhoods across the city.

The department said Thursday that the money is coming from the New Orleans Metropolitan Association of Realtors.

The group’s grant will go to a partnership launched last year between the department and the New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation. It’s called the Adopt-A-Block program and it helps churches, businesses and homeowners install security cameras in crime hot spots.

The money from the Realtors’ group will fund installation of 34 private security cameras.
