DEANVILLE, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a 41-year-old man suspected of robbing a Central Texas bank and firing his gun while leaving has died after his apparent getaway vehicle rolled.

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office identified the man Friday as Henry Washington Brooks of Dime Box. They say he was the lone suspect in the Thursday afternoon holdup at Citizens State Bank in Deanville, 70 miles east of Austin.

Officials say robbery’s gun discharged as he left the bank, but no one was hurt.

Deputy Christine Labertew (LAB’-ehr-too) says a 911 call from the bank alerted officers. Two witnesses followed the suspect, whose pickup truck overturned on a rural road about 4 miles away.

Labertew says stolen cash was recovered at the accident site, but she declined to say how much was stolen.
