LA MARQUE, Texas (AP) - Police closed off several blocks as a precaution after finding commercial-grade fireworks in a Southeast Texas apartment while serving a narcotics warrant.

La Marque (luh-MARK’) police say nobody was injured Friday afternoon and two men at the unit were charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police in La Marque, 10 miles northwest of Galveston, didn’t immediately return messages Saturday. A police statement Friday said investigators are trying to determine what the men were going to do with the fireworks.

City jail records show 54-year-old Gary Carpenter was freed on a personal recognizance bond. Galveston County jail records show 45-year-old Mark Knowles was being held Saturday on a Collin County warrant related to a child support case.

Jail records did not list attorneys to comment on behalf of the men.
