HONOLULU (AP) - Honolulu police are investigating what led to a New Year’s Day shooting that left two people dead, including the suspected gunman.

Police were called to a home in Kapolai to find a 56-year-old woman dead of an apparent gunshot wound. A 32-year-old man with a single gunshot wound was pronounced dead at a hospital.

KHON-TV reported that Honolulu Police Department Homicide Lt. Phillip Lavarias says it doesn’t appear the shooting was related to domestic violence. The man does not have a prior record.

The Honolulu Start-Advertiser reported that police said the man was a family friend who had been invited to the house for a New Year’s Day party. The woman lived in the home.

The man and woman have not been identified.
