NEW YORK (AP) - Prosecutors say three people were charged with evidence tampering after they dumped the body of a teenager on the sidewalk who had been fatally shot at a New Year’s eve party.

Eighteen-year-old Eduardo Placencia, his mother Natalie, 49, and her boyfriend Dorian Carr, 48, were held on $100,000 bail after an arraignment Saturday in Queens, according to the Daily News of New York (https://nydn.us/1JmjNmZ ).

Police say none of the three were involved in the shooting. But they panicked when they discovered the body of 16-year-old Jihad Jonson at the house. They took the body downstairs to the street in a sheet. Prosecutors say they tossed the sheet. The teen called emergency responders.

Carr’s attorney said the three were trying to help, and took the victim outside for the 911 responders.
