ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) - Ray Sanders scored 18 points, Joe Cremo had 15, and Albany (NY) held off a late charge to beat Cornell 75-70 on Saturday night.

In a back-and-forth first half, a 3-pointer and layup from Cremo gave Albany (11-4) a 35-30 lead, and the Great Danes took a 37-34 lead into halftime.

Trailing by 14 with 6:13 to play, Cornell (6-7) tightened its defense and did not allow a made field goal the rest of the way. Robert Hatter’s 3-pointer pulled Big Red within three with 0:48 left, but they could not take advantage of a missed Albany layup, and Mike Rowley made two free throws for the Danes with 18 seconds left to put the game away.

Matt Morgan made five 3s and scored 19 points for Cornell, and Hatter scored 18 with six assists and five rebounds.

Albany outrebounded Cornell 45-28.
