ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Taste NY, New York state’s effort to highlight locally produced foods and beverages, saw sales at its events and stores triple in 2015.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that Taste NY sales jumped to more than $4.5 million from $1.5 million in 2014.

Taste NY was created in 2013 to encourage sales of food and beverages produced throughout the state. The program operates stores and hosts events around the state that bring together local manufacturers of products such as yogurt, syrup, beer and cider.

Some 11 stores are now open, including one in Puerto Rico and the newest location, a Taste NY cafe at Whiteface Mountain.
