FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A Fargo man with nine felonies on his record says he will plead guilty to possessing a handgun and more than 500 rounds of ammunition.

Jonathon Kinney is charged in federal court with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. The plea agreement calls for two of the four charges against Kinney to be dropped.

Authorities say Kinney’s girlfriend bought a handgun for him at a Fargo outdoors store in June 2014. Police recovered the gun and ammunition after Kinney’s vehicle was impounded in November 2014.

Kinney had been previously convicted on five counts of accomplice to burglary or theft of property, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and terroristic threats.

The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
