FLINT, Mich. (AP) - After 25 years, a public ice skating rink has reopened in Flint.

Flint now joins Detroit and Grand Rapids with a downtown skating destination. The Flint Journal says the rink opened Saturday for skaters of all ages, next to the University Pavilion.

The rink was closed prior to the University of Michigan-Flint’s purchase of the property in 1990. Because of liability, the university kept it closed.

The rink will be open on Wednesday evenings and weekend afternoons.
