ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an inmate has escaped from an Alabama facility in northern Alabama.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office tells Al.com (https://bit.ly/1Un4ElW ) that 29-year-old Corey Jefferson escaped Saturday morning from the Limestone County Jail. Jefferson was on work release and left his job around 2 a.m.

The office says Jefferson is a black man standing at 6-foot-1, weighing about 230 pounds.

Court records show that Jefferson was serving 60 days in jail after pleading guilty to the unauthorized use of a vehicle, but has a previous criminal history.
