BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say the mother of a girl who died in a car crash on Christmas night now faces charges that include felony death by motor vehicle and impaired driving.

The Times-News of Burlington reports (https://bit.ly/1PBSG6M) charges were filed Friday against 31-year-old Stephanie Marie Flinchum of Burlington.

Authorities say Flinchum’s daughter and son were in the car when it ran crashed into a tree just after 9 p.m. Dec. 25. The Highway Patrol said both children were ejected even though they were wearing seatbelts.

Killed was 7-year-old Kaylee Deroiser. Both Flinchum and 8-year-old Kaden Deroiser were treated at UNC Hospitals.

She was placed in the Alamance County jail under a $250,000 bond with a first court appearance scheduled for Monday. It wasn’t known if she has an attorney.
