KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) - A Key Biscayne teenager has died and two other teenagers are hospitalized following a New Year’s Day crash.

The Miami Herald (https://hrld.us/1PDb80W ) reports the teenager who died was a passenger in the car that was speeding when it slammed through trees, a light pole, residential gate and other obstacles before stopping in front of a Key Biscayne home early Friday.

Miami-Dade Traffic Homicide officials told the newspaper that speed was a major contributor in the crash. The 17-year-old driver of the car and a 17-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment of head injuries.
