TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police have identified a woman who was killed after being struck by a car Christmas Eve.

Police confirmed Friday that 34-year-old Maria Hong was hit on Broadway Boulevard near Kolb Road on Dec. 24 shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Officers were called and found Hong on the ground.

Firefighters transported her to a hospital but she later succumbed to her injuries.

The driver, 31-year-old Joedaniel Gutierrez, stayed at the scene and was uninjured.

Investigators say Hong had been crossing the street away from the crosswalk, about 100 feet west of the intersection.

However, Gutierrez was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence - impaired to the slightest degree.

It was not known Saturday if he had an attorney.
