WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) - A 33-year-old woman in Wichita Falls has now given birth to the city’s first baby of the year in two separate decades.

Renee Harnden gave birth to Ava Grace Harnden at 1:55 a.m. Friday. Her sister, 16-year-old Alyssa Harnden, was on hand at the hospital.

The Wichita Falls Times Record News reports (https://bit.ly/1JPZklv ) that Alyssa Harnden was Wichita Falls’ first newborn in 2000.

Alyssa told the newspaper that she was “kind of hoping it’d be on Monday,” but is happy to now share a birthday with her little sister.
