LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air has named a new chief operating officer after a sudden resignation last week.

Vegas Inc. reports (bit.ly/1K1HD7Z) Friday that the low-fare carrier promoted Jude Bricker from senior vice president of planning to COO.

In his new role, Bricker will run day-to-day operations, adding flight operations, maintenance and safety to his existing duties focused on route network and fleet strategy.

Bricker has been with the company since 2006.

He replaces Steve Harfst. It was announced last week that Harfst left the company after serving in the position for a year.

Chief Financial Officer Scott Sheldon will also take on more responsibilities in the management shakeup, adding on inflight and operation control center duties.

Company CEO Maurice Gallagher said in a statement that their roles are being enhanced.
