PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A Portland restaurant owner and tour-group official is running for mayor.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1Ve5O3G ) that Sarah Iannarone announced her mayoral bid on Thursday. She depicted herself as a thoughtful leader who can challenge candidates like Multnomah County commissioner Jules Bailey and state treasurer Ted Wheeler.

There are 10 candidates in the non-partisan election. Iannarone is the only woman.

The 42-year-old has no political experience but hopes to capitalize on her business and political connections. She owns the Arleta Library Baker Cafe and works with the current mayor’s wife at tour organization First Stop Portland.

Iannarone’s role as assistant director of First Stop may provide connections to key business groups and donors.

She hopes to raise $100,000 in the next two weeks and $250,000 for the May 17 primary.
