KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Amway President Doug DeVos and his Quantam Racing crew have won the IRC 1 class at the Key West Race Week sailing regatta off the Florida Keys.

Bad weather forced officials to cancel IRC 1 and several other class races Friday, but DeVos of Ada, Michigan, had built a half-point lead over Steve Benjamin’s Spookie in earlier races during the five-day regatta. Benjamin, of Norwalk, Connecticut, is the 2015 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year.

The J/70 class raced Friday, and Italian skipper Carlo Alberini defended the title in Calvi Network. Alberini dominated the 54-boat class, finishing first in five of 11 races and beating runner-up Relative Obscurity, owned by Peter Duncan of Rye, New York, by a dozen points.

Bella Mente, skippered by Hap Fauth of Minneapolis, won the Maxi 72-class.
