WASHINGTON (AP) - In Washington, a hockey game between the Washington Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks was at first moved earlier and then called off because of snow.

The game was initially scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday but was moved to 5 p.m. before being postponed for a later date.

Tom Loesel, 46, and his 17-year-old son Ian were dressed in their jerseys and already on their way when they learned the game was off. The father and son, who attend four or five games a year, turned around on the metro and headed back to their home in Virginia.

Tom Loesel said it “would have been nice just to get an earlier warning” but that the game’s cancellation would let him get an earlier start on shoveling.
