RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police have started an internal investigation of an Internet video that appears to show a state trooper haranguing a young driver for 10 minutes in a traffic stop.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1ZRKVSv) that the video, posted Jan. 2, the trooper can be heard telling the driver - who appears to be a young, African-American man - he was pulled over for an expired inspection sticker.

During the stop, the trooper says that he’s an African immigrant, and accuses the driver of being racist.

Toward the end of the stop, the trooper tells the driver, “stop being an ass when somebody stops you.”

State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says agency investigators are “aware of the video and are looking into it.” She wouldn’t confirm the trooper’s name.
