COVINGTON, La. (AP) - State police say two people died in a head-on crash north of Covington Friday evening.

The New Orleans Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1PpMQsG ) that the victims were identified as Edith R. Brown, 82, of Mandeville, and Joseph Cyprian Jr., 83, of Folsom.

State police say the crash happened on La. Highway 25 just north of Covington.

Investigators say Brown crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Cyprian. Investigators say it’s unclear why Brown crossed into the other lane.

Authorities say Cyprian’s wife and front-seat passenger, Lois W. Cyprian, was severely injured.

Troopers say they do not suspect impairment was a factor in the wreck, but blood samples were taken from both drivers and will be analyzed by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
