TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Two teenage boys were shot and wounded as they walked on a street in New Jersey’s capital city.

Trenton police say the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the area of Jersey Street and Home Avenue.

The 14-year-old city residents told police they heard gunfire and soon realized they had been hit. One boy was shot in the shoulder, while the other was struck in the right thigh.

Both boys were treated at hospitals and were later released.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. It’s not clear if the boys were targeted by the shooter or if they were hit by stray shots.
