WASHINGTON (AP) - As a snowstorm pummels the mid-Atlantic region, utilities are reporting a few thousand power outages around the region.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is reporting nearly 1,100 outages early Saturday afternoon, with more than 900 of those in Baltimore City. Delmarva Power is reporting about 800 customers without power, with nearly 700 in Sussex County, Delaware.

Pepco, the electric company that serves the District of Columbia and nearby Montgomery and Prince George’s County in Maryland, reports about 800 outages, mostly in Montgomery County. Pepco officials say some of the outages they’re seeing are due to downed trees.

Dominion Power is reporting about 600 outages in northern Virginia.
