PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Authorities say a Providence man has been indicted in connection with the slaying of a 54-year-old woman.

Thirty-two-year-old Efrain Blanco is charged with murder.

He’s accused of killing Zenaida Pacheco, of Providence, on Oct 25. Pacheco’s body was found by a maintenance worker in an apartment on Randall Street. Police said the death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy, but did not say how Pacheco died.

Blanco surrendered to authorities a week later after police released surveillance photos.

There’s no word on Blanco’s connection with Pacheco. Investigators have said he was the last person to leave her apartment.

Blanco has been held without bail since his arrest Nov. 5.

He’s scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 10 in Providence Superior Court.

It’s unclear whether he’s being represented by an attorney.
