WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser says city government offices will be closed on Monday.

Bowser made the announcement during a Sunday evening press conference.

Bowser says, “we want to have tomorrow to continue to keep cars off the road” so major roadways can be cleared of snow.

Bowser says officials are “making a lot of progress” clearing snow in Washington but there is “still a lot more to do.”

Bowser announced earlier in the day that District of Columbia public schools would be closed Monday.
