PHILADELPHIA (AP) - All public and Catholic schools in Philadelphia will be closed Monday due to the massive snowstorm over the weekend.

The School District of Philadelphia said Sunday that the closure of public schools will include early childhood and after-school programs as well as administrative offices.

The archdiocese of Philadelphia said archdiocese high schools and Catholic elementary schools in the city would also be closed. Officials noted that schools in the suburban counties “normally follow the decision of their corresponding local public school district.”

The storm Friday and Saturday dumped 22.4 inches on the city according to measurements at Philadelphia International Airport.

Forecasters say that’s exactly as much snow as normally occurs during an average season. It was also the fourth-highest two-day snow total in Philadelphia history.
