BOSTON (AP) - The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education has three meetings coming up.

The board on Monday will hold a special meeting in Southbridge to hear from the community about placing the town’s school system in state control. Commissioner Mitchell Chester recently recommended that the district be downgraded to Level 5, or chronically underperforming.

The board is scheduled to hold a joint meeting Tuesday in Roxbury with the Board of Higher Education to discuss efforts to include civic learning in the definition of college and career readiness.

The board’s regular meeting will follow. The agenda includes a discussion and possible vote on Southbridge schools; a discussion of newly released graduation and dropout rates; and a possible vote on whether to revoke Dorchester Collegiate Academy Charter School’s charter.
