TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Saguaro National Park officials are investigating vandalism damage to multiple cactuses at the park’s unit west of Tucson.

Park officials said at least nine saguaro (sah-WAR’-oh) cactuses were damaged, as well as some prickly pear and cholla (CHOY’-yuh).

The damage occurred Saturday along the Gould Mine Trail.

The damage included slicing off sections of cactus, and park spokeswoman Andy Fisher said it appears some kind of large sharp tool was used to cut the cactuses.

Park officials say they want to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
