LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Dona Ana County employee has filed a lawsuit against Treasurer David Gutierrez over allegations of sexual harassment.

The Las Cruces Sun-News reports (https://bit.ly/1SdFyXT ) that the suit claims Gutierrez harassed Luz Nunez prior to August 2014, when he allegedly offered her $1,000 to spend time with him in a hotel room. Gutierrez, during a county personnel investigation, allegedly admitted he had tried to pay the woman for sex.

The complaint says Nunez rejected the offer but didn’t report the incident out of fear of losing her job. Gutierrez was her boss at the time of the alleged harassment.

Nunez claims Gutierrez would make inappropriate comments to her at work that usually referenced her appearance.

Gutierrez said Friday that he’s aware of the lawsuit but declined to comment.
