VERONA, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a kidnapping in Verona.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1Se1xhm) Marcus Benton was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service. He’s charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Verona Police Chief J.B. Long says the victim told authorities that he was robbed by Benton on Jan. 14 and then held at gunpoint for a period of time. Long says the victim said Benton later assaulted him with the weapon.

Long says Benton moved out of Verona after the incident. He was arrested in Lee County.

He’s being held on bond in the Lee County-Tupelo Jail. It isn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
