ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been arrested after crashing a stolen car into an Albuquerque home and then leaving the scene.

The Albuquerque Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1PwqsHN ) 20-year-old Michael Martin is charged with receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle in connection with the Friday incident.

A criminal complaint says the suspect and another person, who hasn’t been charged, fled the scene on foot after apologizing to the homeowner for hitting her house. Martin was later located by a police helicopter.

Police say a woman who was in the home at the time of the crash reported feeling the home shake and then discovering that the gold Honda had hit the structure.

Martin allegedly told police a mechanical failure caused the crash and that he’d borrowed the vehicle from his girlfriend’s father.
