CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A delegation from South Carolina visits Israel this week on a trade mission.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (https://bit.ly/1Vkn1IK ) that those participating in the South Carolina-Israel Collaboration’s fifth annual Business & Research Mission will be in the Middle East through Thursday.

The agenda includes visits to manufacturers, business parks, a research and development center and an investment conference.

The main sponsors of the trip include the InterTech Group of North Charleston and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt says the mission is important in promoting trade between South Carolina and Israel. He says Israeli companies have invested nearly $9 million and created 140 jobs in the state since 2013.
