ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - An Anderson man has been charged with murder 10 months after his neighbor was found shot to death in his home.

Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said in a news release Sunday that 53-year-old Ralph J. Kay has been charged in connection with 52-year-old Gerald C. Freeman’s slaying.

Capt. Garland Major says Freeman was shot multiple times and was found dead on March 29 in his home, two days after authorities believe he was killed.

A warrant says Freeman’s DNA was found on Kay’s footwear.

Skipper says the lengthy time lag between the crime and arrest was due to his deputies being thorough in their investigation.

It was not immediately clear whether Kay has attorney.
