SUMRALL, Miss. (AP) - Veterans Affairs is opening its third Lamar County office, this one in Sumrall.

The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1PefMSg ) reports that the number of veterans in the county has grown 20 percent over the past three fiscal years, to 3,994.

Sumrall Mayor Gerolene Rayborn and the Lamar County Board of Supervisors will be among guests at the new office’s opening ceremony, at 11 a.m. Monday.

The office will be open Mondays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Robert Robertson of the VA says his main job there will be filling out forms for veterans and widows of veterans, and making sure they get the right forms.
