CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - A woman has been found dead in her submerged vehicle after she drove off Lee’s Landing in Conway.

Horry County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Dan Shankle tells news outlets that the body was found Tuesday morning in the Waccamaw River by divers who began searching for the woman shortly after car fell into the water Monday night.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler identified the victim as 66-year-old Donna Anderson of Conway. He says she died of an apparent drowning.

Authorities say they were unable to remove Fowler’s vehicle from the water, but would resume the recovery on Thursday.

Resident Bud Jordan tells the Sun News of Myrtle Beach (https://bit.ly/1NzWlOv ) that he saw Fowler drive off the landing ramp and into the water, prompting Jordan to yell for help and call 911.
