DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of a former Denver police officer accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman while he was on patrol.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/vB8NrL ) 36-year-old Hector Paez was sentenced in 2012 to eight years in prison followed by sex offender probation for a 10-year to life term. He was arrested in 2010 after a woman said he took her to an isolated location and coerced her into performing a sexual act by threatening to jail her.

Paez said he took her to a secluded location to question her about a drug dealer.

Prosecutors announced the appeals court decision Friday.
