DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A Davenport man has been given up to 15 years in prison for the shooting death of an Illinois resident.

Court records say 28-year-old Justin McGowan pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and a weapons charge in the death of Gerald Housley, of Rock Island, Illinois. Prosecutors lowered the charge in exchange for McGowan’s pleas.

Authorities say the 28-year-old Housley was shot in the head Aug. 2 after he and McGowan got into an altercation in Davenport.

McGowan was sentenced last week.
