COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado Springs man charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian should not have been driving.

Defense attorney Jeremy Loew says 36-year-old Joshua K. Debakey had been flagged as a habitual traffic offender and had no driving privileges.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/JPeXrw ) Debakey was arrested Friday in connection with the Jan. 23 crash that killed 53-year-old Franz Wilson.

Investigators say Debakey was driving an SUV when he hit Wilson and left the scene.
