GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A man accused of stealing a woman’s purse in Easley and leading authorities on a two-county chase is facing numerous charges, including two counts of attempted murder.

A Greenville County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant says that 30-year-old Joseph W. Pfeiffer sparked a pursuit Wednesday afternoon when he took a woman’s purse at a sporting goods store.

Authorities say during the chase, Pfeiffer intentionally struck one deputy’s vehicle and tried to hit a second deputy, but missed.

Deputies say they found Pfeiffer hiding behind a house in Greenville.

Pfeiffer has also been charged with resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, failure to stop for blue light, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of meth and driving under suspension. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.
