HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey official says a North Arlington man has been arrested on charges in the death of his wife.

The Bergen County prosecutor says 45-year-old Eric Pleger was arrested on murder and weapons charges in the death of 47-year-old Luisa Pleger.

The prosecutor says in a news release that North Arlington police responded to a request that they check on the welfare of a female tenant at an apartment complex. Police found Luisa Pleger dead in an apartment and they arrested her husband.

Pleger was being held in the Bergen County jail after a judge set bail at $2 million. The jail would not provide any information on whether Pleger has an attorney.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the county medical examiner.
